KAO FONG MACHINERY CO., LTD (“the Company”) has consistently adhered to international laws and established standards of business ethics as fundamental principles of its operations. We are committed to ensuring that our products are not misused for any military purposes.
In response to a recent report by UNITED24 alleging that a VMC21100+ Vertical Machining Center manufactured by the Company has been used for military-related purposes at Russia’s Plant No. 9 facility, we hereby clarify the following:
According to the Company’s internal review, the VMC21100+ Vertical Machining Center in question was manufactured and exported to Russia in 2013. The transaction and delivery were conducted in full compliance with the international laws, regulations, and commercial practices applicable at that time, and all required export procedures were duly completed in accordance with legal requirements.
Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, governments around the world have successively imposed economic and trade sanctions on Russia. In line with our corporate social responsibility and commitment to international compliance, the Company has fully ceased all commercial dealings with Russia and terminated any product supply to Russian distributors.
To prevent any potential misuse of our products for military purposes, the Company has also suspended the provision of after-sales services, technical support, and spare parts to end users in Russia. We explicitly refuse to engage in any cooperation or equipment usage that may be associated with military production.
Regarding the use of the Company’s trademark in local marketing materials, we clarify that during the period of prior cooperation, the Company had authorized the local distributor to use the KAFO trademark. However, following the termination of the cooperation, we regret that we did not promptly and comprehensively review the continuation of such marketing authorizations, and we acknowledge this oversight in supervision.
The Company has formally requested the relevant parties to immediately cease and remove any promotional materials involving our trademark and has clearly stated our position. Nevertheless, due to practical limitations in enforcement, the Company does not have direct control over the actions of third parties. We will continue to closely monitor developments and take necessary legal and administrative measures to safeguard our brand rights and interests.
The Company remains steadfast in its core values of responsible and compliant operations. We will continue to closely monitor international developments and ensure that the sale and servicing of our products comply with international regulations and corporate ethical standards.
